SEEDS- GREEN SCHOOLS
The US Caribbean Chapter Green Schools Committee hosts green school community events in cities and towns, makes presentations, “adopts” local schools and engages the media in our initiatives. Get involved!!!

3. Register your schools for Green Apple National Day of Service: September 28, 2013. Visit: www.mygreenapple.org . Sept 28 thousands of schools throughout the world will conduct school greening projects. In 2012, thirty schools from our Puerto Rico-USVI Chapter region participated. Our goal for 2013 is 100!

SEEDS are School Energy and Environmental Delegates
SEEDs are teachers, administrators, parents, students, operations staff, board members and the community at large.
In 2010 we received the Green Schools Committee Innovation Grant, for our SEEDS for Schools Program.
We conduct, free of charge, workshops consisting of 16 hours of training. The Goal: for schools to create a sustainability plan for their campuses. All are invited to participate! Below is an example of our curriculum:

VISIT The Center for Green Schools at USGBC www.centerforgreenschools.org
Mission: For every student to attend a green school within this generation- from the kindergartner entering the classroom, to the Ph.D. student performing research in a lab.
Services: The Center provides the resources and support to elevate dialogue, accelerate policy and institute innovation toward green schools and campuses.
Strategies: Engage communities at the local level
Spread information to raise community awareness about the benefits of green schools
Work with parents, teachers, students and school boards, administrators and city officials.
Each year, USGBC hosts the Green Schools Committee Symposium to gather committee chairs for two days, for success story and resource-sharing, message training and outreach strategy development. Maria will represent us at the Symposium.
